Doctor of Medicine, University of Graz (Austria) with specialisations in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine in the following orientations: Public Health (Bologna), Hospital Hygiene and Technology (Genova), Laboratory Medicine (Modena). In addition, he specialised in Legal Medicine (Verona).
His career progressed from Assistant in the Medical Directory, to full time Vice Medical Director and finally to full time Chief Medical Director of the Regional Hospital in Bolzano. During his office as Chief Medical Director he was also commissioned as Health Services Coordinator of the central and southern parts of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
After the second Italian Health Service Reform he became the Chief Medical Director of the Local Health Authority of the same territory.
After that, he worked as a permanent consultant in health services management for the Autonomous Province of Bolzano´s Health and Social Services. At this period he was also the President of the Provincial Appeal Commission for Care Assurance for over 5 years.
At that time, he was also a member of the National Scientific Commission at the Ministry of Health in Rome.
His long-standing health management experience continues to serve him in his position as member of the ministerial commission for evaluating the scientific activity, clinical excellence and organization of Italy´s Research Hospitals (IRCCS), of which 49 are currently recognized as such.
He is also a contracted Professor in Degree Courses for Health Professions of the University Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome), Bolzano Campuses in the following fields: medical management for health services and legal medicine.
In addition, he has acted as member of the Board of National Association of Doctors of Medical Doctorates (ANMDO) for 25 years and is now the National General Secretary.
For the past 2 years, he has been member of the Board of the EAHM and the Scientific Subcommittee.
